DAY 01  USA / Lisbon
Overnight flight to Portugal.

DAY 02  Lisbon
Arrival at the airport where you will be greeted and transferred to the charming Hotel Lisboa Plaza 4*, beautifully decorated in classic Portuguese style. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Lisbon including panoramic views of the Plaza Marques de Pombal, Parque de Eduardo VII, Monument of the Discoveries, Tower of Belem and Jeronimos Monastery.

DAY 03  Lisbon / Estoril / Cascais / Sintra / Lisbon (B/L)
Full day sightseeing tour including visit to beautiful Sintra and the Palacio Nacional de Sintra Palace. Enjoy the popular seaside resorts of Estoril and Cascais.

DAY 04  Lisbon / Setubal / Arraiolos / Evora/ Estremoz (B)
Pick up car rental, cross over the Tagus River and continue to the port city of Setubal. Portugal’s third largest port offers a marina and old town to explore. Drive to Arraiolos, a town known for its 14th century castle and handmade carpets. Arrive in the World Heritage Site of Evora. Walk the narrow cobblestone streets to enjoy the variety of architectural styles. Visit the Roman Temple of Diana, the Convento dos Loios and the granite Santa Maria Cathedral.  Continue to Estremoz for accommodations at a 13th century castle, Pousada da Rainha Santa Isabel

DAY 05  Estremoz / Vila Viçosa / Elvas / Estremoz (B)
Breakfast and depart to the hillside town of Vila Viçosa for a visit to the Palacio Ducal, once residence of the Dukes of Bragança. Continue to the fortified town of Elvas, whose Moorish history is reflected in the castle and church. Return to Estremoz.

DAY 06  Estremoz / Portoalegre / Marvao / Castelo de Vide / Bussaco or Condeixa-a-Nova (B)
Morning departure to Portoalegre, where cork production is a tradition. Continue to medieval fortified town of Marvao, and to Castelo de Vide, for a visit to the 13th century synagogue and the Baroque church of Santa Maria. Continue to the serene National Forest to visit the elegant Bussaco Palace Hotel .  Overnight at the Pousada de Santa Cristina

DAY 07  Bussaco / Coimbra / Aveiro / Porto (B)
Depart to Coimbra for a visit to the University’s ornate library and chapel. Travel to Aveiro, a small seaport known for its beautiful tiled buildings and canals. Arrive in Porto and walk along the Douro River in the Ribeira quarter. Or visit the Sao Francisco church and the Stock Exchange both known for extravagantly gilded interiors. Overnight at Hotel Mercure Batalha 4*, located in the historical district and near the Port Wine cellars.

DAY 08  Porto / Viana do Castelo / Barcelos / Braga / Guimaraes (B)
After breakfast, depart to the fishing port and vacation resort of Viana do Castelo. Continue to the riverside town of Barcelos, known for its ceramics and crafts. Drive to Braga and visit the spectacular religious sanctuary, Bom Jesus do Monte. Arrive in Guimaraes for accommodations at the Pousada de Santa Marinha, a 17th century convent. (This tour can be ended in Porto by returning car at Porto airport).

DAY 09  Guimaraes / Batalha / Alcobaca / Fatima / Ourem (B)
Travel south and discover the great medieval abbeys at Batalha and Alcobaca. Visit the famous religious sanctuary of Fatima. Drive to the popular fishing village of Nazare on the coast. Or visit Tomar to see the 12th century Convento de Cristo. Overnight inside a medieval walled town at the Pousada de Ourem-Fatima.

DAY 10  Ourem / Obidos / Queluz (B)
Depart to the enchanting hilltop town of Obidos, where narrow cobble-stoned streets and whitewashed houses are enclosed by castle walls. Continue to the impressive Palacio de Queluz in Queluz. Accommodations at the Pousada de Dona Maria I, a building in the castle square formerly used by the Royal Guard.

DAY 11  Queluz / Lisbon Airport (B)
Return car at Lisbon airport. End of tour services.
