DAY 01 Mon Paris / Giverny / Landing
Beaches / Mont Saint-Michel / Angers (D)
Early morning departure to Giverny,
home of Monet, the great impressionist painter. Visit his house and gardens.
Travel along the Normandy coast to the D-Day Landing Beaches for a walk along Omaha
Beach and a visit to the American cemetery at Colleville. Continue to the
magnificent Mont Saint-Michel and explore this fortified city and abbey. Arrive in
Le Plessis for dinner and overnight. Chateau du Plessis.
(Or return to Paris via the TGV train).
DAY 02 Tue Angers / Tours / Paris (B)
Morning visit of Angers,
a city dating back to the 13th century. Its fortress built by St. Louis, is an
impressive example of feudal architecture. Travel through the lush Loire Valley and
the charming city of Tours to the romantic 16th century Château
de Chenonceau, built over the River Cher. Continue to the Château
de Chambord, the largest of all the Loire castles, with four hundred and forty
rooms, three hundred sixty five chimneys and eighty three staircases. Lunch on your
own. Drive to Chartres for a visit to the magnificent Gothic
cathedral and then wander through the old city before returning to Paris.
